Tonight I Walk for You

Relay for Life

"Bill Usher is the Coordinator of the Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life in Golden, BC. One evening this winter, while planning for Golden's Luminary Ceremony, Bill was inspired to write 'Tonight I Walk For You' - and we're glad he did!

"Our vision is that Relays across the country are free to share "Tonight I Walk For You" as they raise funds to make cancer history. Thanks to the many Relays in British Columbia who financially contributed to the recording so that we could make this available to you all for your promotional purposes and for use at your Luminary Ceremony. It's very exciting to realize that community choirs can download the 4 part vocal score and sing along with the recording at your own Luminary Ceremony.

"Finally, a big thank you to Bill Usher, Joani Bye, Michael Creber and the other musicians who have created this wonderful gift in support of the Relay For Life."

TONIGHT I WALK FOR YOU

When I was lost you would
Hold my hand and walk with me - You would
Hold my hand and squeeze
When I was lost you would
Pick me up when I fell down - You would
Speak my name and I would smile

Now as I walk
Your love walks with me and guides my step
Your love walks with me and lights up the way
Now as I walk
I remember you and say what's true - that
Tonight I walk for you

I'm going to send a
Prayer on up to guide my way
I'm going to send a
Prayer on up for a brand new day

You used to hold me in your
Arms at night till I could fall asleep
You'd hold me till my
Dreams would come and carry me away
So now I hold you in my
Heart tonight and keep this flame alight
I softly speak your name with love

Now as I walk
I remember you and say what's true - that
Tonight I walk for you

We have also created various mix versions of the song (e.g. without the choir and/or lead vocals) so that Relays can include a local choir or vocalist to sing along with the recording during the Luminary ceremony.

Joani Bye

As one of Vancouver's top studio singers, Joani's powerful voice has been heard on albums by some of the music industry's most popular artists such as Cher, David Bowie, INXS and Jon Bon Jovi, to name a few, as well as on countless commercial jingles. Her live projects range from theatre to a busy schedule fronting some of Vancouver's top rock and R&B bands. She has performed on stage with the likes of Sheena Easton, Del Shannon and Mellissa Manchester.

Vancouver born and based, Joani is currently playing guitar and singing with two duos (Moodswings with Linda Kidder and ByeLines with Diane Lines) and her R&B band "Joani Bye and the Homewreckers", who recently released their first CD, entitled "Off the Floor".

With concert tours, school shows, club work, sessions, song-writing and her 10-year-old daughter, Joani stays very busy as one of the West Coast's most "in-demand" female singers.
