"Usher's Honest Intrigue" - Roger Levesque, Edmonton Journal, Thursday, Jan.19, 2006

"Saturday night, Festival Place in Sherwood Park plays host to one of the most unique acts around: singer, songwriter and producer Bill Usher. After some 35 years in the music business and music media, Usher is starting a new phase of his career at age 59 with his first real independently produced album of original songs, the fascinating CD Slowdancing In The Ballroom Of Life.

"Slowdancing is a marvelous self-portrait of an artist at middle age, contemplating romance and responsibilities with a touch of wit and wisdom, painted with raw emotional honesty that would be almost startling if it weren't so entertaining.

"For anyone raised on the rhythm and blues sounds of yesteryear, the album is a thrill simply for its old-school production sound. Keyboard player Denis Keldie pulls out instruments like the Wurlitzer, the Hammond B3, Mellotron and Mini Moog, with John Switzer's bass, guitarist Steve Briggs and drummer Al Cross alongside Usher's own djembe and conga drums and intriguing vocals.

"Usher's current tour finds him with a smaller version of The Space Heaters, featuring guitar whiz David Sinclair and stick player Nathen Aswell."
